In today’s medical members forum post I wanted to touch on an issue that is affecting farmers and consumers nationwide. The whole country has been tasting the effects of a tomato free market after the FDA and CDC reported that specific types of red tomatoes have salmonella. More people then you can count on your hand from 17 different states have already become sick from salmonella filled tomatoes.
The final tally on those sick continues to rise and as of yesterday 167 people have been sickened due to bad tomatoes. I did not realize this was happening until yesterday when I ate at Taco Bell and Subway who did not have tomatoes to use.
The online medical dictionary is not giving the definition of a tainted tomato to all strands. Cherry, grape and tomatoes grown from a vine are exempt from the recall. I wonder how many medical transcription forums are talking about cases of tomato caused illness today. Avoid Plum, Roma and Red tomatoes at all costs. The most commonly consumed tomato based foods are salsa, guacamole and red sauce. If you feel dizzy or have a bad stomach ache after eating tomatoes go to the hospital.
